Located at The Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay, WI (87° 20' 31" W, 44° 49' 50" N), the Leif Everson Astronomical Observatory is operated by the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society and houses a 14" Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope on a robotic mount controlled by a computer affectionately known as HAL 9000. A 102mm refractor with a Hydrogen Alpha filter is mounted on a portable equatorial tripod for outstanding views of solar prominences. Also available are several binoculars of various aperture and magnification mounted on parallelogram type mounts on piers located in the StarGarden. Public observing sessions are typically scheduled from September through April. For more information, please contact President@doorastronomy.org.
The weather information below is provided by a weather station located at the observatory and is updated by HAL 9000 every 5 minutes. For a local forecast click here.
The Clear Sky Clock near the bottom of this page is provided compliments of Attilla Danko, one of those really cool guys at the Canadian Meteorological Center.
